Have you ever wondered how Wonder Woman became known as Princess Diana? Perhaps it has something to do with the real life British Princess Diana?
Actually, Wonder Woman (Princess Diana) was created in 1942, whereas the real life Princess Diana was born in 1961. So it's merely a coincidence, as far as we know. Wonder Woman took the alias (much like Superman), Diana Prince, after traveling from Paradise Island by switching identities with an army nurse who looked exactly like her. Wonder Woman did so in order to stay next to her beloved pilot, Steve Trevor (what a woman won't do for love). She is a demigod, and the daughter of an amazon queen.
The late Princess Diana (Princess of Wales) was born in 1961, and passed away in a car accident in 1997. During her life she did a lot of philanthropic work. Though she did not have any super powers, nor did she fight evil, she did a lot of good for those in need. Diana caused a lot of uproar with her divorce, but she stood strong and followed through, pursuing her own happiness. In a way, she was just as strong as Wonder Woman.
Although the two woman are seemingly unrelated, they have many things in common.
Stay tuned for next week's theme!
