Midnight Walks and Street Lamps

Some nights you just want to walk.
I experienced one of those nights a few days back. As you know, spring is coming, and the night air is a good indicator of that. Going home from work that evening, I felt the warm breeze lift up my hair and gently curve around my face, unlike the harsh slap of the winter wind. The smell of damp soil and new grass wafted through the night. The light was fading from the sky, but I wanted to be out longer. I ran back home, dropped off my stuff, and walked outside. It's funny how different you approach nature as the seasons change. During winter I would grumble and complain as I painstakingly pulled on three layers of pants, ready to face the outdoors. As you can see from the picture on the right, there are moments during the winter nights that were breath taking, but at the cost of freezing my fingers off.
There's also something mystical and calming about street lights at night. Their glow transcends the pitch black space, and illuminates the path you are going to take. They give dimension to the night, by casting shadows on the pavements, and when it snows or rains, the tiny particles are put in the spot light, allowing us to enjoy the beauty of nature. I took a few pictures of street lamps tonight, and I would like to share them with you below.
